5 conseils hivernaux pour protéger vos cheveux du froid - Crüe Cosmetics

5 winter tips to protect your hair from the cold

Posted by Crüe Cosmetics on

The beauty of winter is undeniable, but the effects it has on our hair are often less enchanting.

Just like heat, extreme cold can have negative effects on your hair such as static, split ends and, of course, dryness.

At Crüe, our goal is to prepare you for all the hair challenges that come your way, which is why we've compiled 5 quick and easy tips to help you keep your hair healthy this winter.

Extend hair washing days

Did you know that shampoo has the ability to remove natural oils from your hair? These natural oils, also called sebum, are what make your hair look and feel greasy, but they also provide a protective barrier for your strands. The harsh cold of the winter months means your hair needs extra protection. Avoid washing your hair as often and be sure to use sulfate-free and silicone-free shampoo and conditioner. We recommend Freÿa shampoo and Freÿa conditioner. They will both help you avoid scalp irritation and dry hair while promoting hair growth.

Get your hair cut regularly

Cold air isn't the only culprit for winter hair damage. Fireplaces and chimneys pull moisture out of your home, and out of your hair! It's no surprise that our head can turn into a city of split ends if we're not careful with our cuts. Getting a haircut every six to eight weeks is one of the best things you can do for your hair, especially in cold weather. This will reduce the amount of dry, split ends that may develop.

Avoid hot water

We know nothing can beat a hot shower on a cold winter day. We also know that hot water and steam dehydrate hair, making it more susceptible to breakage. When washing your hair, use lukewarm water and finish with a squirt of cold water if you're playful. The freshness seals the cuticles, making the hair healthier and shinier.

Don't go out with wet hair

This is a major ban for many reasons. The most important in terms of hair care is that wet hair is much more fragile and susceptible to breakage than dry hair. It is not recommended to go out with wet or even damp hair, as it can freeze and break.

Take the time to air dry your hair, but if you need to leave the house sooner, opt for quick drying, but be sure to do it on low to medium heat! If it's too hot for your hand, it's definitely too hot for your hair.

Give your hair some love

Hair care is a form of self-love and the importance of giving your hair the care it needs becomes crucial during the winter. Using a salon-grade nourishing conditioner is very important in cold weather, as it moisturizes your hair. There are other ways to increase hydration, such as using a hair mask or moisturizing oils.

One thing's for sure, winter is coming, but with these 5 quick tips, you should sail through it smoothly, like a snowflake in the wind.
